The Houston Journal of International Law is committed to lifting the voices of people of color in every way it can. In an effort to bring awareness to the unique hardships people of color face everyday, the Journal has created a brand new type of piece that will be published in the Journal beginning with Volume 43, both in print and online: Forewords.

These forewords, written by our peers of color, will introduce each author’s individual perspective on the issues in the form of a scholarly writing. Each will have its own story, and each will represent a crucial step in the Journal‘s efforts to combat racial injustice and implicit bias in the legal field and their everyday lives.

Below are the digital versions of the Forewords. To view them, click the tab of the corresponding Issue’s Foreword that you would like to see. If you would like a print copy of a particular Foreword, you may purchase the corresponding Issue that the Foreword is published in.
